lets go yum cha

In a multiracial country, Malaysians uses many different languages and mother tongue in expressing ourselves. English, being one of the leading language and culture, most of the youngsters communicate using english. However, we often add other common terms not found in the english dictionary in our conversation. A new language arise in our generation which we term it "manglish".

manglish = malay + english

so today i wanna introduce a word that may be common to u.

yum cha \eium-cha\
(n)
1. to hang out at a place
2.to chit chat.
3. to meet up informally
4. usually includes widerage of rubbish talks.
eg. Lets go yum cha tonight.
(v)
1. having to hang out at a local hang out place.
2. engaging in rubbish talk at a local hang out place.
eg. I'm at GC yum cha now.
yum cha-ing
(adv)
1. undergoing rubbish talk.
eg. i'm yum cha-ing at GC now.

Yeah, although yum cha originated from cantonese, but it still categorize as manglish. Yum cha literally means to drink tea. Usually the elder ppl in the town would gather up after a long day and sit around in a local coffee shop or tea house to enjoy a cuppa with their close friends or relatives. Nowadays, the young ppl would "yum cha" at their local mamak(indian who are muslims) shop.
